Four-time All-American wrestler Sammy Sasso was the victim of an off-campus shooting in August 2023, which kept him from competing in the 2023-24 season. On Nov. 14, 2024, he made his long-awaited return to the Covelli Center for Ohio State’s season-opening meet, where he defeated Chattanooga's Jackson Hurst 12-6.
