A digital memento

Newspaper front pages and landmark wins have gone hand in hand for as long as I’ve been a sports fan. There’s nothing like seeing your team pull off a big win and keeping a souvenir with a clever tagline.

Unfortunately, our print budget wouldn’t allow us to print special newspaper copies after each playoff win.

However, we could leverage our social media accounts to give Buckeye fans a fun piece of content, while also driving traffic to our pages to further reinforce The Lantern’s position as a go-to source for Ohio State football coverage.

These winter break Instagram posts ended up getting some of our most engagement for the entire academic year, during a time of the year when The Lantern rarely posts any new content.
